Fished Hartbeespoortdam yesterday. Launched at Ifafi - under R 200.00 for 2 adults, 1 car, 1 boat - they also have a tractor crew that help to launch the boat. Anchored accross from Oberhon in 9m water - close to where the river opens up into the dam. Lines in at around 12H00 (were late in getting to the dam as we first had to fix an electrical problem with the boat trailer). Fishing conditions were great. Water was warm, sight breeze with lots of fish turning and jumping all around. However, it being a Saturday and taking into account the excellent weather there was a lot of traffic on the dam. We lifted anchor at 16H45. Managed to get 4 carp in the 2kg range - bait sweetcorn (clean & dipped in TCP) and large clean floats. It was interesting to see the watergrass in the shallower sections of the dam - never used to see any watergrass when we used to fish off the boat in the past - fist time we went out with the boat in over 2 years (had to get the skippers, COC, etc first). Plan to give Bronkies a go in two weeks time...anyone fished off a boat there recently?

yeah hell the watergrass is even breaking you off when you fish from the side... sad indeed as i would rather fish the green water than water grass water... fished meerhof on sunday and fish were plenty, but when you go deep and you have a fish on you get snagged almost every time, seems like this only started after the big rains earlier... sad indeed
