Hi Guys! caught this Bass of 62 cm on Friday after work...

Fished from the shore, using a 2 piece 6ft Shakespeare spinning rod, Shimano Sahara gte 1000 Double handle spinning reel, loaded with 8 lbs line, was targeting bass on lightweight lures like Small Rapalas and poppers since it was nice and overcast...caught a few small ones of about 500gr to 1 kilo, changed to a watermelon red fleck baby brush hog with chartreuse twin tail, 1/4 oz brass weight and red glass bead - texas rig...second cast about 10 cm from a papyrus bush...BOOM! good fight on light tackle, I was not aware that there was bass of this size in that dam, will beef up my gear when I go there again...and take a scale!!!!!!!!!!

Ps...it is a pvt dam in the plantations somewhere on the Hazyview / White river road...so dont even bother asking permission to fish there..LOL!

according to the florida bass calculator
620mm or 24,409in = 9,412lb or 4,269kg.
question how did you measure it, with a tape or the eye? if you had a tape then it is always a good thing to measure the girth because this will give a more accurate estimate of the bass. personally, from the pic, i dont think it weighs more than 2,5 kilos. do you think the above calculation is true?

62cm would normally be around 3.6-4kg unless fish is very old or in really poor condition. That fish looks quite lean, big head and small body. This wouldn't be a surprise for a summer fish in a shallow, very warm dam with acidic water - these conditions are not ideal for bass. I'd estimate a weight of just over 3kg. The same fish in early Spring before the spawn could be 3.5kg.

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!
I LET THE FISH LIE FLAT ON THE GROUND, NEXT TO MY FISHING ROD, AND MADE A SMALL MARK ON THE ROD WITH MY KNIFE, AND THEN BACK AT THE RANCH MEASURED THE BUTT END TO MARK ON MY ROD...

BASSBUG - I HAVE CAUGHT LOTS OF BASS IN THE 2,5-2,8 KGS RANGE...THIS WAS A "TAD BIT" BIGGER...LOL

Herman you nuts to mark/knick the rod with a knife.
as always, looking at pics and relating the hand size to the mouth opening, also in this case, looking at the lure size then relating that info to my previous catches isnt easy. then comparing it to pics of 4+kg bass, had me guessing. a 4kg bass is something to be proud of, congrats
