went to the vaal yesterday, wanted to fish at Aqua Via but the place was booked out for a private event, so at 6am we were stranded as we didnt know of any fishing spots around, met a white guy that we followd to grootvlei massive plce, R30 per person for the day...

Unfortunately wencaught nothing, tried everything i had, had two runs on the bait runners but no fish, altho casting with shimano alivios are awesome...

Has anyone fished there before??? Outcome? BAIT?????????

lol sorry guys for not repsonding still naar thinking how i blanked that day..

okay lets see if i can remember correctly..

 

if u get off the N3(heading towards dbn) its the last offramp before the vaal toll, at the T junction turn right, bout 800m u can turn left to get into Villiers, but u carry on straight down, u will find Aqua Via on ur left, bout 6-8km's after that you will find a spot called grootvlei, its a gravel road that u drive on and u basically go around the dam/river to get to the entrance, nice neat place, gets very full and i blanked badly...

 

R30 pp, no real facilities

 

wouldnt go back coz i blanked, but the guys next to me were there over night, and they caught some BIG barbel!!

 

apparently its not too far from Boschkop
