grabnel sinkers

I noticed that most of the fisherman these days fish with the grapnel sinkers with a bait clip on them . Does this improve the casting distance drasticly and what about getting stuck in the rocks . Do they improve the chance of coming of when u get stuck ?

Hi munoo

Yes it does make a difference on your casting distance cause you don't have your bait flying around like a helicopter blade. The amount of extra distance achieved depends on the caster.

On rocks it will work SOMETIMES. If you casting onto flat rocks it does stop it from falling into any small crack/crevice. Between areas not too rocky it will stop your sinker from being washed behind rocks. But if you are casting over any rocks you will still get snagged. Fishing at rocky areas you will loose lead no matter what you use

Down here most people fishing between rocks prefer the sinker with the thick nylon instead of steel. But I think it's only because its a bit cheaper.  Just for interest sake I'll measure a 3 distances with bait clipped on and 3 without to see the results and post it here. As soon as this weather clears up:cloud

use the sinker with Nylon grapnels on the rocks, or the bottle sinkers.

the nylons are soft enought to bend and pull loose if stuck, and can also prevent your line getting stuck. sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. fishing on the bricks,u gonna lose tackle
