I was at Bloemhof this weekend. The carp were quiet, but the barbel were wild as usual. We caught 10 on the space of 1 hour 30mins. They were grabbing the plattie as it hit the water. On four takes, I did not even have time to get the bail arm over to wind in the slack. Biggest was 16kg. I fished up in the "sloep" on the right hand bank towards the Vet. Water was 25 degrees and about 2.6m deep. The big barbel were chasing the small carp right up into the reeds in the shallows. It was wicked!
