Goose bay canyon game ranch

HI guys

i will be visiting goosebay canyon game ranch on the vaal for a 3 day "papgooi" session during desember,it will be my first time there so i just need some info on the place and how the fishing is there if anyone has any info on this venue i would gladly appreciate it any tips are more than welcome as well.

Sorry bud, went there once a couple yrs bk and struggled to catch. Really nice place though and will definately go back again.

I tried swd with floaties, mielies ,rietvlei rig, casted up to 60-70m. Tried quite a few dip combos as well, but like i said i didnt catch anything. The guy next 2 me caught a couple small carps and the guys right at the end of the camping site caught a few muddies.

I think there were a couple reports previously, if you havent done a search on the forum, do that for some more info. Sorry wish i could help more

thanks pal i do appreciate the reply,ill see what i can do on the fishing side will try a few things out but overall you say its a nice place??we will be staying in the log cabins im just worried that the place is not lady and child friendly want to make it as comfortable as posible for the wife and kid as well

Honestly, the log cabins we stayed in are great. Of course its not 5 star luxury but its one of the better fishing places we have stayed. Wife really liked it as well so thats always a bonus!

When i went my kid was still a baby so i cant really say if there was any facilities for kids or anything, but there may be stuff at the day visitors section.

Good luck with the fishing am sure you will do better than me! Please let us know how it goes.

I know that it's next door to dimalachite and We caught some nice ones using SC FX floaties, SC Reelrun Mielies.

And on the Bom we used SC FX SLick ,Quatro and Stuttafords.

Sorry for the late reply and you're probably back already.

GBC is a great place! There's no kiddie entertainment but it's enjoyable.

The fishing is good but the carp can be fickle and you have to try a few combo's until you've figured them out.

Some combo's that have worked well in the past are:

Perdeby & FX
Stutt O & Banjo
Pink Sweets & TAC
Gumtree & Molasses
Gumtree & Lootie
Q35 & Lootie
Y Activator & Banjo or Y Activator & Tjop Tjop
Whatever & Kap Kap

They take a variey of mielie and floatie baits:

Banana, Scopex, Plain & Blou trein mielies work well.
Banana, BS32, Tutti Frutti, Pink Sweets, Vampire, Plain white & Plain yellow floaties do the job.

A SWD on the one of the hooks every now and then also delivers.

There are very good muddies and barbel in the river at GBC so make a plan and target them too.

Also, don't cast too far. 50m is more than enough.
