Any where on the south coast should be good right now depening on weather conditions, if you looking for the sardines I suggest that you call the sardine hotline the number can be found on www.shark.co.za or www.ecr.co.za tight lines bru

I also suggest venturing further south to Stabel and Splash Rock as these areas always productive this time of year depending on weather, maybe a shout out to the local tackle shops could help as well.

hey thats such a leka place to stay and fish.iv been there plenty times.theres a river you have to go through to get to the beach.they hire out canoes.iv caught plenty perch in that river and a rock salmon.on the beach they nail the shad and shoal kob.

Hey Leonard my boy.........dont know what u smoking but Happy Wanderers is right on da beach bro'....Only hting u gotta go thru is the caravan park if u not in the chalets!!
ChrisJ,
when u get HW, hit the beach, head north towards rocky bay, and when you get to the rocky outcrop, put a shot , kings, stumpy's bronze breams, shad, salmon, brusher, wara wara wara! For bait, chokka, sards (red eye or fresh) If you looking for gr8 b8, go to 4th street in Park Rynie, look up First Lite Fishing (turn right at the intersction) and speak to Bobby (Commercial fisherman) he almost always has red eyes and now fresh sards for sale.
Alternatively, head to Sezela and you won't miss teh action albeit shad. But now with the sards having moved through anything can and usually happens. Directions from HW, back to main road, turn left, about 8km's just before the N2, turn left into Sezela, 4 k's down, turn left @ da Illovo Sugar green sign (not the white wall sign), turn immediate right, bottom of the hill turn right and continue to teh beach. If you meet any of the locals there pass my regards to them.....tighlines bro!

Chrisj and Zeyn any news on your venture down the South Coast this past weekend ? Sould arrive back in SA this Friday and very keen to go dust off the rods/reels and wet the lines after being away from home for 3 months.

Does anyone know of anything else happening ? I take it the north coast still very quiet

Not having a great year of fishing trips. About 2 weeks ago a tidal surge washed the whole beach away from Happy Wanderers. The surf zone is literally about 5 metres from the front of the cottages. So much so you just put your rod holder in front of your unit and cast. The water is extremely deep across teh whole front of the resort but there was no wave action/white water for the Friday and Saturday and I saw nothing come in despite the fact that most the guys fished through the nights. Sunday came gale force winds making fishing difficult, picked up 2 skinny looking shad that went back to fatten up a bit and after a brief fight got broken off by something of a toothy nature. Monday came with lots of white water and a perfect day however was plagued by small blacktail/karenteen/tobies.

All in all a very disappointing couple of days yet the water is very promising. No sandbanks, just a deep dropaway from waters edge. I will be back there soon to try again. The setting is great, ho wmany places can you sit by your braai and fridge with lines out. You dont even pick up crap from the family 'cause you are sort there so u cant get yelled at for deserting them.

Hi Rakesh, I searched for Happy Wanderers and came accross this old thread and it seems like you klnow the place quite well. I've been spending the last 3 December holidays there but only recently got serious about R&S angling. Picked up on some nice shad and Black Fin Sharks last year. I see you say if one hits the beach and face the sea then turn North (that will be left?) and walk down the beach to rocky outcrop (is that the huge boulder type rocks about 1-1.5 km down the beach close to the next caravan park, this is past the logoon type outlet that runs under neath the bridge?) Is that where I can target all above species?

How is the Cob/Salmon at Happy Wanderers? is there still allot of them or not and where, what time, bait is best for them?

I hear kingies from that big boulder type point and also if you go right way past submarine around the corner? What bait best or plugs? Live strepie blacktail maybe?

Please give me nice rundown on Happy Wanderers do not realy want to drive to Scotties or Pennington but will for 1 or 2 days!

Thanks

Is there anybody out there that was at Happy Wanderers recently? Wondering what the surf zone looks like every year I get there it has changed. Is there still a deep gully running behind the swim beach's last breakers? Any news please?

Angler X be aware that to get to Pennington from Happy Wanderers you have to go back to the freeway and go South to the Sezela Bazley turnoff and then go back(North) up to Pennington as the bridge is still down.

Thanx Plugger, do you have any other news as to the fishing at Happy wanderers, surf and beach conditions, what fish is still active there? are there still cob around there?

Sorry can't help you there. We have a place at Ifafa and we fish there and Bazley quite often but don't get to Pennington and HW anymore

It shouldn't be much different though, some big shad around, saw a big bronzie caught at Ifafa. The water today is a bit dirty from the rains but that changes day by day.I havn't seen any Kob but there are often guys fishing at night at Bazley. Thats about all I can help with. Good luck.
