I see all the new ones now come with a splash cover. So there obviously is a problem with them.

Edit:
I've got a cobra on-board and the other day it sounded all crackly. Thought it was buggered. Then discovered the speaker was full of water. Some chop sprayed water directly onto the radio. I blew it out and it works 100%. Just goes to show. If you don't want kak, don't buy kak!

Opened mine up, full off corrosion. Think when I forsed the vol knob when it was corroded the housing cracked and water came in. Looked around, seems like the only option is to buy a new gme 300, or a navstar handheld (but there is a hole in my console already), ar a Navstar 220 (looks less splashproof, more used on 4x4's)

Bennie, do you have a pic of the new ones with cover, all these I saw on the net looked the same than mine?

Greg, can I use that MRH7 and mount it in the side of console with only the cover in front and the back part inside the console? PM me price, please. Thanks

But now, after some surfing, I also discovered that when I go to Moz, which I do a lot, I also need a VHF (now its going to cost me even more), must look at handheld, no more space in my console. Do anyone have experience on handheld VHF radio's, I see some do float as well, that looks more "waterproof" than GME 300's.
