hi, the thing about geelbek in my experience which might make them little hard to target off kayaks (i dont have any kayak experience so i wont know) is that geelbek love big swell and 9 out of 10 that is when you make your best catches! They very seldom feed flat on the bottom and prefer your bait to be between 1 and 3 fathoms up from the seabed. As they go on the bite they like to rise with the bait and feed a mere 5 fathoms below your boat/kayakl. Ideal water depth would be between 20 to 40 metres. These guidelines i must add are for the jeffreysbay to huisklip area, but i am sure it will be the same for your area as well. They like rocky reefs and absolutely love chokka. A whole medium size squid with a 8/0 to 10/0 will do the job for those lekker juggernaut geelbek! Hope this helps!
