Can u dropshot with a bass rod?? 7foot med to heavy.

Bud, and to reiterate the answer of "Yes", think about this for a while, even the name dropshot is a freshwater bass term, so the answer is more than Yes It's an Absolute YES, just try the spinning setup rahter than the baitcaster setup, (distance and lure weights, etc.)

I am looking to get a setup for drop shot. Currently looking at coffee grinder (think its a Daiwa 2500 or 3000), rod? still gotto decide. Yes I know there are cheaper reels on the market but -->>
My motto in life is go big or go home. If you want to catch decent fish then get a decent rig. I learned the hard way by trying to start with cheap and second hand stuff a year ago when I started fishing. Just aint worth it.

Bud, I bought myself the 8ft Sensation Passion Stick (Dropshot series) rod and the Loomis & Franklin 8ft. Both Medium Heavy rods with a Fast action, however the Loomis is much more supple than the Sensation.
No to these rods I've strapped Two Shimanos, one is the Symetre 4000 FA and the other is the Slade 4000 something.
These, rigs are very comfy (to me at least) and doesn't tire my wrists as was the case with the Shimano rods I started off with (bass fishing) about tow years ago.
However please take note that bothe these rods I've only used in the fresh for bass, and will only be testing them seaworthiness this coming Sunday......

NetSoGroot, What do you plan to target? If you are looking at reels in the 2500 and 3000 range, I would recommend either a 6ft 6 or 7ft rod. I have Diawa Procaster 6ft 6 and Shimano Clarus 7ft spinning sticks and both are awesome rods. The 6ft 6 I use predominantly in estuaries and from the boat. Casting distance is not a problem if your rig is correctly balanced and your reel is spooled with the correct diameter line!

Howzit Bud, will be at Woodbury Lodge from the 20th till the 28th, some 110k's from PE i'm told (da GTI will be doing some serious down to the beach driving then) so if you're round PM me your cell if you want and perhaps we could hook up something together in the salt?
Will be taking the lappy puter with, so i'll post reports when i get back from the waters edge to the place we'll be staying in.......

kewl Bud, can't wait leavin 2morrow morn for the first leg of 4 days in margate, then off to that lodge thingy on the 20th or the 21st.... will call you the day prior to us getting to fish (must 1st see what the agenda's like as we're going with other peeps aswell) but deffs soem serious trips to the waters edge.
I've been presently upgrading.Bought a telescopic rod and small reel combo in Phuket,Thailand, while on holiday there.The rod was made up but the reel was thrown in as a combo.At 180baht(R45) for Combo, I thought I could afford to take a chance.Took my wife trout fishing prior to holiday in Phuket,and we had so much fun ,thought this rod would be ideal for future trout fishing.Used this rod and reel Tuesday night,and reel gave me trouble.So, yesterday,went through threads on Sealine and settled for the Shimano 2500 Slade,which was recommended on this thread alongside Daiwas at more than twice the price(+R550).No doubt Daiwa are good and worth the money.But as one guy referred to on one of the threads:He'd bought a Daiwa(Think it may have been Excellor)and a Shimano Slade as backup, but prefers the Slade and now has 2 of them which he fishes with,and Daiwa remains in bag.The cost of 2 Slades were less than one Daiwa and you still have change left over.Anyway I put line on new Slade and tried it out last night in appalling conditions and I'm happy with it.Only cost me R230.I may have settled for a Daiwa myself,but decided to cut back as I've presently upgraded my rock and surf gear and Shimano fell into my all round angling budget.By the way I'm picking up a Daiwa reel this weekend for Surf fishing,so I am by no mean biassed.Think they're equally good reels.Just my 2 cents worth.
