Garmin Quest enquiry

Have just bought a waverunner 1100 and what a blast...fully kitted for offshore work...but...Would I be able to use my Garmin Quest for deep sea work as far as the waterproofing aspect is concerned...saw one mounted on a ski on tv....basically is it waterproof enough

Further to the above...I have upgraded to a Nuvi 500 which seems to be the answer...but still have to do a few hours to check the waterproof story

I have a quest and it is waterproof.  I am not sure how it will fare in salt water.

I have used mine on a boat before when the main unit died but that was only for a few days.

In my view the Nuvi is not robust enough to use on slat water.

I use my G Quest on my bike off road and in my bass boat. I did put it in my small boat for use in the Knysna lagoon to try log the exact chanels but there is not constant salt water splashing on the unit.

I have also used it on my fishing ski off the coast at Port Edward but it was housed in a waterproof container and then when out of the surf I used it there. Before heading back to shore I store it away again.

I would be reluctant on a ski because of that very reason.

On a jetski you and all your tools get saoking wet.you need something much safer than just splashproof,take my word
