GARMIN BLUE CHART G2 VISION?

Ok, so I ditched the old Garmin GPSMAP 185 and bought the newer 421s. I havent installed it yet, so not really sure what to expect. Now, how much detail am i able to see without the aid of the Blue Chart G2 Vision card? Is it critical to the success of the unit? Can I get away without it?

Any advice appreciated.

You don't have to have it, it is just nicer with it in. The contours are great and really help when trying to find new spots, you can just ride on the contours for a good starting point. The unit is still worth the money without the map for sure.
