Fuel consumption

Would like to know just how much difference there is in fuel consumption between different ski.

For example yammie fx1800 vs 1600 vs 140 or 110. Are the big boys like the kawa 260 en yammie 1800 not overkill for fishing , and even heavier on fuel than a light boat?

Any owners that could shed some light please

5 hrs of tralling on my stx15f uses +-19 ltres and my 260x uses+- 26 ltrs, at fishing speeds they are both light ,when you start travelling faster then the difference is larger.We travelled 45km,s a few weekends ago at speed and the stx used 16 ltrs while the 260x used 32ltrs.But  i covered more ground and killed time playing in the surf waiting for my buddy riding my 15f.I spent most of the ride over 120km an hr out back line.The ultra loves rough ocean conditions

Dustin, wonder how the kawas compare to the yammies in this regard?Another thing I wondered about was that all these ski's are designed for racing. You've been involved in ski and hull design, do you think if you had a clean slate or if the makers of jetskis had to design a craft with it's goal as a fishingski. Would the designs be different. What engines would be fitted?

One can not believe how light these ski's are on fuel. I fished in Jan from Ponta to mamoli - Left at 0530 and returned at 1030. Did not switch off once and the FX 160 used 16 liters - Most was on trolling, but going there and back was normal travel. What a wonderfull ski

If I had to redesign a ski solely with kawasaki I do think you could improve ski packages.I have spent alot of time with hull design .I can garauntee you on the market right now there is no hull that comes even close to the ULTRA kawasaki hull in rough ocean conditions.You have never ridden anything like it.You can use all 260 horses out there and in total  control and soft ride

Is there a big difference between the ultra hull and stx hull?

I bet one would appreciate that ultra if you are caught out there in a sudden big southerly

The stx is a great hull but the Ultra is new generation.The motor is so poweful on the 260x but that ski would have a much greater flat water top speed if the hull was flatter but the vee is what makes it,s rough water riding  so good.A fast hull in flat water typically wont cut through rough water as well .Flat water top speed you need hull lift but rough water you need something to cut through the water and suck down which robs flat water top speed.An ultra does the same speed glass water or 3 foot chop
