And not too much milage on the clock either. Over 8 years... about 25 000 km per year?

My Ranger is only 11 months old and already has 33 000 km's on his clock.

@ Robyosh: These are not the strongest or prettiest vehicles in their class but they are certainly reliable as hell and inexpensive to run.

@Kaspaas: Die trok was meeste van die tyd in die stad gebruik en word die laaste paar maande net as n "weekend car" gebruik. Ek het my fortuner nou vir 3.5 maande en het 19000km op.

@Martin: As ek jou profile pic so kyk dan wil dit voorkom of die trok se kleur perfek sal pas!

Absolutely tried and tested engines. Before I bought mine I really researched all makes and models, trying to read past the brand hype and marketing foofies. I eventually bought the Ranger 2,5 TD XLT D/C 4x4. I have not been sorry for one moment, apart from the fact that I would have loved to have the 3 liter version (alas much too expensive for my budget). It drives like a car on the tar and can handle anything off the tar.

I think Marthin will vouch for the above. He has been with me on both tar and sand on occasion.

It is also probably the cheapest to maintain and I have only had positive experiences with the Agents i.t.o. servicing and enquiries.

I have to admit the 2.5 liter motor hasn't got any power under 2 000 revs, but boy as soon as the turbo kicks in at 2 000 revs, the change is dramatic. One therefore has to keep it in second gear (high range) and above 20 kph in the sand.

The other hassle I found is that not all suplliers/manufacturers of bull bars and tow bars stock such for the post 2007 model Ranger. And because of the fact that the new model has air bags both in front and on the sides, you aren't allowed to fit sommer any bull bar or to replace the existing foot railing on the side. The older models don't however have this "problem".

My jammy has to, and will no doubt do, last me untill my retirement in 4 years time. By then she should have about 150 000 kms on the clock. Net mooi ingeloop!! LOL
