Flyfishing for Yellowfish

Think we should organise a trip sometime:fishn. With regard to the strike indicator...the length of it should be equal to the depth you are fishing. In otherwords I usually look at the depth I am wading in to get an idea of the depth of the water I'm fishing and then adjust the indicator so the length between the indicator and top fly is equal to the depth I'm standing in. Also remeber that your indicator lifts your fly from the bottom (especially when their are no splitshots on the line). You ideally want your top fly to flow just over the rocks on the bottom. If your fishing 30cm deep water and uour indicator is 1.5m above your top fly you will miss a lot of strikes as yellows and suck/spit your fly without your indicator showing it. Once you start realising how all of this works your success rate improves greatly

This is where I then made the indicator longer so that both my flies get down to the desired depth, for some reason I didnt even think of using splitshots.
Never been to Sunnyside farm, are there many rapids and how is the fishing pressure ito fly anglers? Fishpaste, I reckon the fly you used must have been a heavy GRHE to get down in the current without splitshots. I figured out the length of the indicator to fly the hard way...through struggling with it for an entire day until I clicked how it influences the fly and what length picked up the most strikes. Much better to share this knowledge than struggle on your own
