Floaties

Hi All,

I'm abit confused on what hook size I should be using, I currently use Linx Rietvlei already made rigs (as they are nice and quick to set up) which has #4 hooks on them.

I also use Supercast soft floaties which come in the 100ml tubs which are bigger than the ones that come in the 50ml tubs (see pic below)

I get ALOT of bites and my policemen is often bouncing around but I only hook up every now and again.. Is this because my hook is too big? Or is it too small?

This is the #4 hook with the super soft floaties which come in the 100ml tubs

Your bait is not the wrong size, the fish that are producing the bites are to small for the hooks you are using

Just as there is no wrong dip there is no wrong size floatie

In this case your hook will be good for 1kg+ size carp and definitely no good for muddies.

Thanks so much for your reply! Can I use the same hook size for the smaller floaties or should I go smaller?

Smaller as small as 0.8 All depends on what size fish you are targeting.

If you want to catch whatever is biting then go smaller ie 0.8 or #1

If you're only interested in half decent sized fish and bigger then keep to your current hooks

You can put a floatie on with a dough behind or 2 small floaties to add buoyancy

Experimenting and working out what works best for you, is all part of the journey to catching more fish
