Fishing plastics weightless

Hi there,
I was just wondering...
I have found great success fishing for bass on plastics rigged without any weight and was wondering whether the dropshot guys do the same in salt water (especially estuaries).  I know that it wouldnt work if there are rough conditions and wind, but i thought that maybe it would be ideal for very calm conditions...
Just find very natural action on weightless lures especially if twitching and then leaving it, also fish dont get startled if they pick it up in between twitches because there is no weight attached to the hook.  You can give them  bit of line when the pick it up and then set the hook.
Just wondering what the dropshot guys think of this? Everyone that I have talked to about DS in saltwater has talked about using leadhead even in very calm conditions. - Help the Vaalie...

Weightless camo worm for grunter on a nice bank dropoff or twitching a minnow in a slight tide for kob/leerie. Sounds great, but dunno??
Maybe even fished weedless ??

Your comments much appreciated :thankie

I've heard of guys fishing weightless for kingies/garrick etc. they skip the plastic on the surface.. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Distance might become a problem with smaller plastics.

In estuaries and seas there are obviously tides and big waves and harsher weather which is the main reason for the lead head.

Even in the best of weather you might struggle with weightless in the incoming and outgoing tides. I would advise using lead head but a light one if your preferance
