hi guys

all im gonna say is damm it was 1 hard week of fishing...

started on the 26th april satday in long beach..its just south of mapalane

caught afew under sized pompano's ..all released...

picked up 1 nice sized shad...just under 3kg's

lotsa baby sandsharks..

sunday afternoon..fished blue lagoon....had a nice run wit a garrick...

saw 2 nice sized garrick come out & decided to try wit the light tackle SL30 & assasin lite....didnt know i had a kink on my line....& guess wot....lost my 1st garrick for the season

tried drop shotting in the river...had 1 nice chase...not sure wot it was...mite be a shad cos the 3" chatruese shad got bitten off...other then that...i didnt see anything else happen....later in the evening...was sad seeing the guys take baby grunter & salmon ....i dont think they where even 15cm...guys where bagging them

tuesday/wednesday afternoon fished umkomas river mouth....

water was very brown

lotsa juvey fish grunter shad & salmon

i caught afew...but threw them all back....

& yet again the locals where even catching 2 at a time....& bagging them

guys where even bagging the 10cm baby kingies...was a really sad site

i even approached them & asked them bout the fish being undersized....lets say it didnt go too well....

thursday/friday nites.....fished the new pier at the beach front...

the pinky mafia was there....but caught afew shad inbetween

there where 2 learner fishermen wit us...& they had to 2 good runs, didnt tie there knots well....& the rest was history...suspect to be kingies....took out 1 underize 1 earlier

yup it was a good week...being at the coast....watchin the sun rise's feeling the sand between the toes...

Awesome Andz,

fishing is still awesome even if you catch just a couple of small ones, but being there is the best.

sad that we always hear about the local taking undersized fish.

thanks for the feedback.

Not pointing fingers or anything, but just as a matter of interest Andz...

the reason I asked about the species of Rockcod is that we need to be careful about which species we catch, because not all Rockcods are equal...

For instance...

a White edged Rockcod - minimum size is 40 cm, Bag limit 5
a Catface Rockcod - minimum size is 50cm, Bag limit 5
a Yellow belly Rockcod - minimum size 60cm (thats a BIG fish!), Bag limit 1

2c and just FYI ... use it, don't use it.

yeah i know.....i normally release all the rockies i catch
even if they over size...but this 1 was injured & hooked badly
& they normally take really long to die...
