Hi All

Some advise on the above dam will really be appreciated.
Will be going there for the first time, mid April for a day fishing trip.

What would be the best baits to use for carp and babel, (Dips and floties)

Thank you.

Do a search in the forums for Biermans, a lot has been said about the venue. Try sweet baits like Banjo, Perdeby, Quatro on one rod, on another rod either plain (for instance maize from the tin or dough or even brown bread) or spicy flavours like garlic/onion. Shallow water in front of the Island - which you may not see if the water-level is high enough, just drive till the windmill on your right, I've done well even in the shallow part. No trees so no shade, no shop, ablutions not too bad.

Good Morning

It's probably not my place to share this info, but I have it on good authority that, as with a lot of other farms around the Vaal dam, the owners have decided to only allow organized competitions and clubs to fish there in future. This is due to the few idiots (as always) that stuffed it up for everybody else by leaving the place looking like a garbage dump and taking advantage of the owner's trust by sneaking in and not paying afterwards.

But to answer your question.......If you are lucky enough to still be allowed to fish there.......Biermans is one of the best. They have a massive shoreline, spotless ablutions and deep water in certain areas. I caught my personal best carp there, on a Juana mealie, at less than 50 meters. The small yellows can become a nuisance at times. I haven't caught a barbel at Biermans yet.

Dips that has worked for me :

Anything Musky (pink sweets, Juana, Kiana), Perdeby, Almond, Aniseed, Anything Garlic, Looti,

Hook bait :

Slangwurm (dip the worm in Looti), Juana float and/or mealie, Perdeby floats, Garlic floats and/or mealie, Almond float.......and all of the above with a small SWD backing.

I hope this helps.........good luck.
