After trying numerous times to get Geelbek of Cape Recieve Point, I gave up as I always seem to miss them. I decided to organize an early morning trip out to the Islands, and targeted Evans Peak roughly 9 km east from St. Croix Island.
We arived there before sunrise and hit large Red Stumpnose, Carpenters and the odd Pompano immidiately. We had the best results on octopus leg as we seemed to hook the big ones only on that. We managed to get smashed up on quite a few occasions loosing our whole trace in the process.
Around 7am that morning, we spotted a massive shoal of sardines to the north of Evans Peak and immidiately pulled our anchor to have a go at what ever we could find. The aeriel display of sea birds having a feast along with Dolphines and sharks going into a feeding frenzy was something to behold. We saw a lot of game fish on the outer fringes, but we only managed to hook into some Bronzies and got smashed up with virtually every cast.
We headed for the islands afterwards and only managed to hook the odd Kob and plenty of Sea Barbel. Around 11am we headed back to port as a wicked South Easter picked up and I had to ensure the safety of my crew.
In general, we had a very productive day and managed to hook some nice fish.
