I got myself a new EchoMap 52dv to have the down view option as well. what do you guys think of the Garmin setup? is it any good or did I waste my money... I'm going to test it out for the first time this weekend at Jozini. If someone know this setup is there any thing I must know?

Its a brilliant finder for the money. I suggest you play with the gain a bit as in auto mode you can miss fish (at sea). I thought the DV would be a gimmick at sea but find it very useful. Only gripe is you must buy maps as the world basemap is useless for fishing here in the Cape.I found the unit temperamental to installation position (transducer) maybe a bit more than previous unit, if you can get bottom lock above 15Knts at sea you better than me ;-).  Angle the transducer SLIGHTLY upwards at rear so that when you are on a plane its roughly parallel with bottom.  Most importantly RTM Read The Manual lol
