I am new to Sealine and Ballito as well, I am also considering entering the ESADSSA tomorrow, looking at the surf conditions and wind at the moment doesn't look to promising though, but who knows. I think it will be a blast either way to be part of the first one ever even if you blank out.

Oh and my advice would be " JUST GO AND TRY AT LEAST" like you said even if you don't catch any......... at least you got to FISH!!!!!

I did fish at the Cape Town leg of the comp, but it was a bit of a dissapointment as the only fish caught just before i left was rock cod round about 10cm. Winnnig the R7K first prize for catching 20 odd of these just is wrong....

I was also at the CPT comp , I was also quite disapointed I was reaaly looking forward to doing some proper Drop Shotting.
Hopefully the next competition will be in langebaan or struisbaai so we can get some decent fish.

The scary thing is it will be no different at a place like struis....maybe one or two karenteen etc thrown in.........but on the whole, the guys who target klipvis and other small fish that can be caught in large numbers will walk away with the cash!!!

Howzit Gentlemen, i fished the Ballito comp, and have to agree that it was really well organised... I also agree with Noweeds, that a points system rewards catching fish that are found in large numbers.... as an example, if u fish the LBSA, and the shad/elf are on the bite, it makes no sense to target garrick... cos the points rewards number of fish, not so much so the size.... Its easy more fish = more points... And how often do we catch monster fish in numbers especially with dropshot.... So i liked the system, even though i blanked out:doh, maybe next time... And anyway, i dont mind catching small fish, the way things are going with me, i'll be happy with a sprat....and the reason why we fish is to catch fish and enjoy good company and mother nature at the end of the day..... So the question i leave u with is:

Hi I went down to the Strand to watch the guys drop shotting , weather gods were not playing along , not sure what the result was , when i left after about 3 hours nothing had been landed yet .
I must commend the ESA guys , everything was organised very proffesionally and the guys I chatted to were most helpfull . The next event which is suspossed to take place the 3rd week of next month should be advertised a bit more . I will try and get out there again as i am quite interested in the drop shot technique of fishing.
I believe there is a surf competion on the 2nd sat of next month as well , can anyone confirm that as I would like to partake in that event.
Does any one know what the last one in Cape town was like ???
