easy casting

hey guys 

a little help here, I have been fishing my entire life and I can more than hepl myself around the the various fishing frontiers (rock and surf, deep sea, and even quite a bit of commercail handline). the small problem I am currently having is "casting envy". I can't seem to get GREAT distance when needed and end up with mild overwinds (fortunately). has any any advice with regards to getting the distance with out the frustration????

11ft loomis 3-4oz rod with a penn555 with 20pound line, or 12 ft purglass 4-5oz with speedline and about 35pound line, when targeting smaller edibles i use a 10ft balistic with a spinning reel - no problems there, just need to be able to get the distance with the "bigger guns" when the big cob, cracker and steenbras are around!!!

Penn 555 need at least a 5oz sinker to get it to run properly. I have the same reel and it does not cast lekker with anything less than a 5oz. Try a smaller reel or a bigger rod that can handle 5-6oz. Also make sure your reel is serviced properly. These Penn's can be finicky sometimes.
