Lure drying rack.

Stops clear coating from running.

Materials needed.

Spool, in this case one from MIG welding wire.

500mm x 8mm threaded rod with 4 nuts and body washers.

50mm hole saw and a piece of wood to cut four discs.

                           Epoxy adhesive.

20 zip ties and 10 picture hooks.

Cut the spool down the centre of the hub.

Sand the rough ends down to level them.

Drill 2 holes at 10 evenly spaced locations around the outer area of the spool.

Cut out four discs with the hole saw, coat them with epoxy and insert one at each end of the hub on both spools.

When the epoxy has cured redrill the holes left by the hole saw to 7,5 or 8mm.

Wind two nuts onto the threaded bar and space them to the required width for the size lure you'll be painting.

Insert a body washer behind each nut and wind on the spools.

Push a zip tie through the hole in the outer spool and loop it through the picture hook and back through the spool.

Cinch that up and cut off the loose end.

Next is to build a frame with an axle shaft and find a solution for motorising the dryer.

A soft spring at the opposite end of the rack will enable the lure to be tensioned while drying and allow for ease of fitting or removing.

I'll post pics of the frame that the spools run on in due course.

I hope this helps.

Mikey,
You need 2 rollers? Then just rest it between the 2 and drive the one roller. That way you can make 2 of them. While one is curing you load the next one up.
