I cast a piece of the sandworm for my wife on the rocks at Baileys, and she definately got something on, and big as well, but by time i'd fallen the skin off my knees to get to her, it was stuck and broke off...

Hi Hoodlum

My kids drop shot the Simons Town jetties now and then. They have caught all sorts of rats and mice and 1 little Roman. The grounds are for members only but it shows there is something to catch in and around that area. We dropshot all along the coast almost within casting distance from the beach, especially off the quarry area and anywhere between Simons Town and kalk bay. We have caught small kob, even smaller geelbeck and lots of hotties and baby roman.

Cheers

Hi Hood!Caught Elf during Summer at Kalk Bay Harbour @ the lighthouse side, last catch being Easter Monday this year on my Berkley Cherrywood 7' dropshot rod & Shimano Slade 2500 with bait used being Chokka.Have also caught on Pike & Sardien. But Chokka is the more sustainable bait. Can't personally comment on Hout Bay,but feedback from others has been negative. You haven't filled in your location and presumably you're from somewhere near the South Coast area.If I'm correct, are you intending coming down to the Cape on holiday and to put in some fishing? Can maybe suggest other places you can carry out similar type of fishing, should dropshotting be your forte.Cheers!

Hi Guys...

Update on KalkBay Harbour. Fished light dropshot rig using Berkley camo sand worm, Blood Worm and Shrimp...and no results not even any nibbles. Also tried Buckhair Jigs and spinners with no success. We fished on the Pier at the light house casting and retrieving at various speeds and depths and the only interest i got was from the resident seals and the spinners I was using and me trying to avoid hooking one of the seals which my little one called dogs! lol

Fished pushing tide in the morning. However at baileys there were a few of the locals that managed to land some steenbras in the 7-10 kg range three of them to be exact using blood worm (the real stuff). I didn't venture out onto the rocks as i had the little one in the arm. The area is fish-able with good shoes as those rocks look slippery and rather dangerous if one happens to fall.

We win some we loose some.....off to the next location it is...
