DROPSHOT REEL AND ROD

I want to know wich one of the Daiwa Sealine reels would work best on the Berkley 9ft Air XH , the 4500Hi Bull or the 6000Hi Bull I don't want to bulky reel for the rod it must be balanced.The waight on this reels is 4500 - 725g and the 6000 - 895g the 4500 can take 270m of 14lb fireline I think that is ok.I want to use it in the surf.I would like to get myself a Stella but the budget can only allow R1500 for a reel.

 


Help please I'm going to buy my rod and reel tomorrow I'm going next week to Cape Vidal

Thanx I'm going to take other reel the Daiwa Exceler Oceano EXC4500J it is a lighter reel 470g + can take much more line 30lb/400m and 40lb/300m that is a lot of line if I use the 20lb fireline.It is also good priced.

Raggie, one more thing, I have mine spooled with 30pound Berkley Whiplash behind and 15Pound Berkely Tracer braid on top. It is a great Reel you wont be disappointed.

That is about 600m of line - plenty

would be worth looking at the shimano's as well. the stradic & sustain are around that price and are awesome reels. good luck.

HI RB

Neil advised me to buy the exc4500j a while ago, was looking for a reel to do a similar job. Great reel. Used it in Moz on my last two trips, very versatile. Just doesn't come with a spare spool. Do have the Bull 6000 on another rod, great reel, just too big and bulky to be casting the whole day.

Like Geno77 said I advised him (and I have one), it really is a very very nice reel, especially when looking at the price.

I also have a Stradic 8000, which is exactly the same as the 6000 (just has a bigger spool), and they also go in the R 1500-2000 range and come with a spare spool, now that is a very very nice reel !!!!!

What I prefer about the Oceano is the deeper spool, have not measured it but believe a Oceano 4500 will probably take the same (if not more) line as a 6000 Shimano.

And like said the Oceano is nice and light.

I have mine coupled with my Berkley Air 9ft XH, I'm not a balanced setup freak, but it does feel pretty well balanced. My reel is loaded with about 10kg Mustad braid.

On the bull, I haven't heard good things about it ...

thanx GEN077 I bought the Exceler Oceano 4500J and what a reel it is perfect for the Air I'm very happy , and glad that I didn't take the Bull 6000 it is to bulky.If I spool it with 20lb Fireline and some braid as backing I'm sure it will take close to 600m now that is enough line for a Iggie.
