Dropshot HELP!!!

My dad has bought me a dropshot rig for xmas, after I begged him. We are going down to our holiday home at Cannon Rocks. We fish this coastline every year, but are now begginer dropshoters. I want to know the best lures and bait for Kob, Shad(Elf), Pignose Grunter, Blacktail and Bronze Bream. There are two Rivers nearby the Bushmans and the Kariega, we fish there with our boat, but now I want to know the best techniques and lures with which to fish those rivers with dropshot. Also surf and rock angling dropshot techniques and lures for the above mentioned species(especially Kob and Shad). Anyone who has dropshotted these waters or anyone who dropshots the East London to PE coastlines- Please Help. Help from anyone will be much appreciated. We are leaving on tuesday so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi canon....i'm no pro ,yet :) but i could offer you my 2c worth yeah....for the blacktails i would DEFINATELY recommend you get yourself a bucket of 6" berkley sandworm in the colour "camo" ,they work like a charm! Simply just break off a tiny piece at a time and thread it on a light weighted jig head,try and find yourself some bandit jigheads in the smallest hook size as this works best for a hook up rate ....as for shad...well you can catch em on any lure ...i'd suggest gettin some fresh water lures like Cullem or zoom flukes cos its pretty darn annoying wen the lure gets smashed and ripped up by the shad ...i've just today caught my 1st shad on a berkley shrimp 2" :) ..as far as the kob and bronze bream go i'd suggest usin your sandworm or gettin the berkley shrimp for bronze bream as i've been told they work well...kob i'd stick to using the berkley lures in various colours like pearl watermelon or chartreuse pepper shad...have seen them take the sandworm as well tho...my advice is to just go with your gut on choices for lures .. There's a big variety but even tho the berkley range is a bit pricey..its great value for the rand cos they dont rip easily on casting and can be used over and over.:)...as for the retrieve..try and fish on rocks in channels ..on your sandworm just cast it out and hold your rod to either side and let the water wash it about ...on the shrimp use a slow steady retrieve and every 3rd revolution of the reel gently twitch your rod tip by tapping it backward twice and then continue retrieving very slowly...thts just the guideline anyway...with the other lures just use a slightly faster retrieve with the same double tap twitch motion...hope this helps hey :) gimme a shout if your still unclear bout anythin..tight lines and good luck mate!
