Bring on the gangster. Never seen a scared ghost before.
"While the great white shark is protected in South Australian and Australian waters, conservationists say something must be done to stop the growing trade in shark jaws, teeth and other body parts.
The Human Society International (HSI) has asked the Australian government for extra protection for the great white shark by pushing to have the species listed on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
The Society is calling on the government to nominate the great white shark for an Appendix I CITES listing, which would ban international trade.
An international trade ban would remove incentives to target the great white as a by-product and encourage development of measures to avoid catching the shark when fishing for species such as tuna.
Even in countries where the species enjoys protection, huge rewards from international markets give rise to an illegal trade.
According to the society, there have been reports of jaws for sale in South Africa for up to $50,000, while individual teeth have sold for $600.
Captures of great white sharks occur in fisheries throughout its range including Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea."

I'm sure that while there is a profitable market around, there will still be a lot of de-jawing done. Cut the market off and the bloodline for illegal fish trade will be coming to a end.
