just read a post about a guy fishing for a day at baja dam(and blanked) and thought that i would post a thread where i would prefer to go(and why) for a 1 day session please feel free to add yours......

it quick to get there just climb on the durban highway and you will be there in a hour/hour and a half depends where in jhb you are

chance of blanking
well you can blank anywhere but there is less chance here than bronkies?

what you dont need to take
a canoe or bait boat you dont need it it is narrow you dont even have to cast far

baits
its the vaal anything sweet

please guys add where would go, college farm is just down the road also a good option

Boschkop Resort on the Vaal Dam.

- It's close Joburg & surrounding areas, in fact I think it's part of Gauteng

- Distance is key, if you want to catch anything of note, blanking's not impossible, but chances are you will probably hook in to some small grass carp or muddies

- To get that distance, you probably need a canoe or bait boat. If you're casting, you will most probably just pick up smaller fish

- Baits: the normal Vaal Dam baits that work - sweet & some strong flavours to call the fish

It does get a bit full though, so to get a good spot is not always easy
