i put this thread in water conditions and there was no response so its going here.

having never fished the venue,ive heard that theres lots of snags....is this old line or rocks.is the water deep or shallow,how deep and how shallow.

what im trying to find out is the usual stuff for this time of year;area to fish;distance etc.

For vaaldam one rod between 60 - 80 m and the other one as far as you can with M1.5

Dips should be more or less the same:
Rooi GP, Devilsfork, Vicks, Looti, FX, Snorre, Brilliant Banana

If there is a lot of snags you can try and fish with one hook.

I have never been there, but I did hear the snags there is because of rocks. Then again, due to all the rocks, there will be line there as well. Apartently on the water is deep (ish). Maybe fish with just one hook, that should help not loosing fish.

at the moment im not really bothered about bait ,dips etc.im more interested in finding out about the bank ,water depth and if theres a part of the area that doesnt have so many hook ups.

the thing is, will you be able to get close enough to the dam wall area.
normally you are not allowed too close. as jy nou n terrie is, sal jy verstaan.

vaaldam, as you know is not that deep, or the deepest dams around.
youll have to put out line real far to get to the deep water.
