Hey, me and a couple of fishing buddies are considering to go to buffelspoort dam for a week of fishing , however we do not know a thing about the dam..
Questions I would like answered is as follows:

- Camping spots
-Camping costs
-Fish species
-Security and facility
-Bank fishing

Is it worth going at the moment, or at anytime at all. We would mainly want to focus on fish species like ( Barbel, Carp, bass ) . Also I would like to know, is the bank fishing good enough?

Thank you for any replies, would be much appreciated.

Sure...

Well nice dam, not realy big but there are big fish in there.. when we arrived a guy had pulled out a 13 KG carp and 3 barbel.

We stayed 3 nights in total. Trying for carp we managed to get 3 bites but we were not able to land the fish, however we cought 3 barbel off carp bait. The dam has ALOT of barbel. We tried to catch some bass aswell and managed to catch one small one. My opinion on the dam: nice camping grounds, not as much grass and weeds decent size fish, overall good choice if you choose to go.

Bait used: Caramel tigernuts and caramel mielies (3 barbel)

Zoom Baby bass super flukes (1 bass)

Costs: R130 for 6 people for a night excluding electricity

Very nice shower and toilet facilities compared to other dams, Plus good security.

If you want to know more specifics, ill do my best to answer.:fishn
