Hi everyone , seeing the weather is not playing game here in the Kaap, decided to service my above reel. Took all the line off and notice that the spool has play left and right ??? while still assembled, very small though about a mill or two is that normal? The reel has never had any serious pulls that I need to worry about , The innards seem fine though the grease needs to be cleaned as it seems to have bocome a tad mushy,, .

Plan to regrease and oil her up tmorrow depending on your prognosis

cheers thanks Kirk.

HI Too much play can cause an overwind. In the spool tentioner knob there should a round brass plate that fits perfectly in the cap and underneath that there is a round silicone pad (about 7mm in diameter). Check if all those parts are there. I know I just serviced my reel.

Yes the tensioner knob will settle the spool comfortably in the frame. Too loose and the spool will be able to be manipulated from left to right.

Too tight and you wont get the casting distance you want. Theory says it should not allow any lateral movement.

Check on Daiwa.com you can download all schematics if you havent the original paperwork.
