Its een a LONG while since i went fishing, allways been something on getting in the way keeping me from hitting the water with big hopes of getting a propper large mouth to fight with!

This weekend the weather didnt turn out bad it was worse than that, cold, wet, and fishing aint something high on anyones list of "things to do",but i had to go,come snow, flood, heatwaves what ever!

I phoned  the owner of the dweba lapa lodge just outside pongola, and after work i finaly went fishing AT LAST!I arrived at the water about 14h00 and the water was teaming as the bass were busting small fry all over the place i tied a buzzbait on made about 50-80 casts and NOTHING,tried a popper and had no results with that either, tried a plastick worm, switched coulors, they ignored that too!I was about to give up when i took out the crankbait selection out of my tacklebox and thought to myself maybe this one will work.

It s a crank i bought from bassworld a while back for 20bucks out of  their bargain bin,a small  Lightning shad  that swims to about 3m,i didnt use it before so i took a long shot! The very first cast i caught one,a small one but gave me a good wack!I moved on to another spot and the very next cast one more,to my surprize the third cast another fish!i got 12 in total in a matter of 20mins they ranged from 500grams to 2,5kg,it shows that one change could make or break a trip and experimenting isnt allways time wasting! Here is some picks to show some of the fish, and look how hungry they were!

Seems like Pongola bass are laying the smack down again ----- Hmmmm miss the good ol days buddy when we were single and could snaek off after work for a coupla bass in and around Pongola - these days we have to sneak it past the wives (Well at least you do as I got a wife who digs fishing) but I moved to the beeg smoke and now it is a mission to find decent waters that are not hard pressed by the okes with the Nitro's and the beeg 200HP + motors.

Anyways boet - the end of April is Nigh
