Hi Leon,

There are a few spots to dive a Vidal.I presume that you are going to have a boat available.I am not sure what level you dive at, but here are the most common ones:

Leven Point (approx 23km from Vidal beach)

  • There is a shallow ledge that runs for maybe 2km perpindicular to the beach and is in about 6-10m of water.Very good for Natal Snoek.I missed a Saily on this ledge a few years ago while boating a Cuda and lots of other good fish have been taken there.[/*]
  • There is scattered reef further out in 14 - 15m.Good Cuda and other gamefish have been taken there.[/*]
  • From memory there is also scattered reef out in 25m.[/*]
Oscars
  • Deep Oscars - there are spots that come up to approx 32m.Last year we saw a marlin here but couldn't get close enough.[/*]
  • Shallow Oscars - right on the backline.Sometimes get Snoek and small Cuda[/*]
I have never really put the effort in going South towards Bats but guys have won Compo's diving south.
There are other spots but these are usually bait spots that work from time to time and get sanded up often.
Also don't rule out the Vidal Point, many fish have been taken of this point over the years.
I am sure there is plenty other info available, google is your friend.
Let me know how it goes as I am there at the end of Feb.
Good luck
