Braid & Superlines

Ok I am doing more study in to this as I am taking in what people are saying here and also on the water and what I have read over the last week on the net. Yes braid is more sensitive. So I was wrong. Sorry I was misinformed. But we need to have a look at our conditions we are fishing. Braid and other lines have their different advantages when fishing but under special circumstances and conditions.

But at the end it comes down to what you want.

Welcome mojofunk, and thank you for the interesting points put forward.

I love fireline and I have no backing for it, as my spool on my reel (Shimano 750FB) is very small, and it doesnt even take 120 feet of Fireline.

The knot I use is a Palomar, and I have read on several places that it is the best knot for fireline, bar none. Although, fireline isn't braid....

In the next few months I am going to spool my Tigerfish reels with Braid. Apparently it works very well.

Now Johnavc is the person to answer that Q, I unfortunenatly haven't been using them all that long so I'm also (if you like) a little new to them.  Having said this, I've had relative sucess with just retrieving them at a slow but steady pace, all that I can tell you is mind your rod tip height, horizontal with the ground/water will ensure your lure doesn't get all that much elevation and will roughly stay on the same depth throughout the retrieve, lifting the rod tip to almost vertical will make the lure go towards the surface a whole quicker.  To experiment with it and see what happens to it and how it behaves when you apply certain actions in a swimming pool.

Ok

A chatterbait can be fished in a couple of different ways. First off it can be fished the same way a jig is fished. By either bouncing the bait on the structure and letting it drop and leaving it again and then bouncing it again. Or you can slowly drag it on the bottom. The second way is to slowly retrieve it at a steady pace and letting the action of the chatterbait do the work for you. Now you can play around with the speed on the retrieve but let conditions dictate how fast or how slow you going to retrieve it. Then the one I love. Cast the chatterbait out and give it a couple of jerks and letting it drop then when it hits the bottom give it a couple of jerks and then leaving it to drop to the bottom but reel up the slack so that you in direct contact with your baits as the fish pick the bait up very fast and if you have to much slack you might only notice the fish when it is to late as they drop the chatterbait just as fast as they take them.

When getting a strike you will either feel the bait stop vibrating or you will feel the hit. Either way tighten up and whack that puppy. Sometimes you will just hook some grass on the blade and it will stop vibrating. But rather be safe than sorry.

Or you can join us on one of our trips and I can show you

I'll go right now if it was all up to me, but, it's not and there's little sad thing happening currently with the Bosses family and so I'll be lending my shoulders out for something other than fishing for a while I think, but I''ll see how it goes...

Will let ya's know.
