Hi guys

Went to Boschkop for the first time this past weekend with the family. Booked 2 of the chalets for the women(thanks PI for the advice) and i must say was pleasantly surprised by them. Not bad at all. The only thing is that they are a distance from the water, but that was mentioned upfront. So the women were goin to stay there, n the men wanted to camp at the water.

Ok, so i read on the forum that this place gets packed on the weekends but figured it should be ok. Boy was i wrong!! Got there just after 10 or so, and the entire spot to the right of the ablutions was full. No place at all. So took a drive the other way to the left and got a place quite a distance away from the chalets. No matter, started the fishing.

As i was with the family, i didnt get to really fish as much as i would like. Sat morning and early afternoon fishing was quiet. We were all fishing floaties, then decided to make some swd, plain and almond flavour. Fx and q35 on the bol, and we soon started to get some fish, mainly small carp under a kilo. Other dips that worked were devilsfork, perdeby, stuttafords.

We had caught about 7 fish, when the wind really picked up and effectively ruined the fishing for that evening and sunday morning. But in the middle of this windstorm, my uncle hooked into a lovely 5kg grass carp casting no more than 30-40 m out. When the wind finally died down on sunday, we caught a couple more.

So overall it was an ok trip, had the weather played along and we could fish a bit more, think the results would have been better. Quite intersting to me that Boschkop is a bit deeper than the other spots im used to at the vaal, and didnt get snagged at all the whole weekend. Am sure that some bigger fish can be caught by taking lines in deep.

Hopefully there will be a next time soon!
