My 3rd year going deep-sea now and really enjoying it....although in my neck of the woods we are really limited by too few `flat` days and fairly hectic launch sites (Kenton and Kasouga beaches) this has me thinking pretty seriously about going the jetski route, easier to launch off the beach and easier to store/maintain?

Boat to Jetski?

Hi Edgy - I have been launching off Kenton for about 10 years now - normally in a 5.2m duck but every now and again off a cobra cat. My mate has a jet Ski and launches off kasouga and loves it - only thing is that he is limited in distance and will only go out if he has another mate with a jet ski / boat (buddy system) as the weather turns lousy at the drop of a hat and windguru usually get in wrong..also it is always a wet ride. They are easy to tow and launch etc but not as comforable as a boat
having said that, if I were to choose I would probably stick to a duck as they handle the surf very easily and you can run out further - also you have 2 engines instead of one on a ski. also compare the prices and reliablilty of a second hand ski vs a second hand 18ft boat... If the sea is too lousy to launch a boat on, I am not too sure that I want to be a ski on that sort of water..
