Can any one tell me what the better knot is for line to hook.I always used the old

blood knot with an 8 pd line but whant to try the snell knot. Will the snell knot take the same punishment or come loose .

Best/easiest knot for Terminal tackle is the Fig 8/Centauri.

The Snell knot is generally used with Circle hooks nowdays - improves the action of the circle.

The Blood knot was the old fashioned way of joining 2 lines of the same diameter together...

What i like more about the snell knot it don`t get so warm when i tie it were the bloodknot strech abit and most of the time make a soft part that brakes of with the double x line

Hi hotstuff i don't want to step on reefers toes here, but 90% of the provincial freshwater anglers use the snell from hookline to hook, it helps a lot with the hooking ability(works almost the same as a circle hook)and i never had one fail on me. The most importaint thing with the snell is to insert the line from the front side of the hook when first pushing the line through, that helps to increase your hooking ability. Hope this helps

Thanks christo i did that today at the sosial and had only one brake but that was the bloodknot at the swivel and not at the hook i took out a 5kg carp with no problem on the knot

Pleasure Hotstuff.

If you have a lot of time on your hands you can either use the palomar knot or the figure 8 on the swivel. But those two knots are very time consuming! Especcially when making 400+ traces before the Nationals. What i used to do, and still do, is to use a bloodknot on my swivel. I know it's not the strongest knot, but how hard can you really pull a fish when using 5lb mainline and 0.8 daiichi's? I seldomly lost a fish due to the knot parting, what usually happens is that the hookline breaks in the middle, due to knicks. What i would reccomend is to use 7lb Double X for the hooklines and replace your trace regularly.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks christo i think my problem was that i took the line twice trough the eye of the swivel and made the bloodknot.it seem you get more strain on the line when pulling it tight thats why it broke off
