If you can cast between 80 meters & 100 meters you will be casting into deepish water also they do use baitboats and go out between 150 meters and 200 meters, they use boilies and kaboems dunno about tigernuts, Ive seen them catch on Spicy and Fruity Boilies. There is a drop off somewhere between 150 meters and 200 meters as it was a quarry I believe just dunno where that is as yet and still trying to find out who can advise on this.

They also tend to bite better in late afternoon from 15H00 on thats why Kobuses place is nice as you can spend the night

i will take my lines in between 150 and 200 meters with a specimen setup and then cats the wifes in with normal mieliebomb setup around the 80 meter mark and spend the night and see what happends.

I have seen one guy pull out a 8kg on Tigernut.
he was using bait boat on the furthest point close to the reeds at about 170m.
His biggest on boilie was a 6kg but was at around 80 meters.

I still want to spend a nite there at Kobus spot and see what comes out after dark.

Biggest one Ive seen come out there was a 8.6kg caught on perdeby soakers with casting.

Following your post ....I also believed tht Blaaupan was a deep dam..However abt 2 weeks ago a friend of mine brought a boat with a fish finder which showed a depth max in the centre of 2.7mtrs..there was no drop of or channels which are deep forming . I fish Blaaupan regularly n I was surprised at the discovery.

Hi there no i did not as it was gonna be too full but i did go on the day we spoke and you sent me the numbers the private side looks good the fish was breaching very deep and the people sitting there all blanked , i spoke to the guy that runs the place and he said that they were gonna build a hotel on the premises soon , he is a nice guy and will occasionally take a line or two in for them but all indications and speaking to the regulars indicated to the fish being deep.

Went out last week twice and tried some different methods

Kept my one rod right next to the reeds about 30-40 meters out hitting the same spots.
7 fish on tuesday
8 fish on thursday
Rod with mielies got a 4kg that gave up a nice fight after a big run

Hey.
Since you were asking about Blaauwpan...
I went there yesterday when the gate opened at 7am. It was my first time at the dam but I loved the dam. Very clean all around and lots of trees for shade. Between 7;45 and 12pm I managed to land 2x2kg Carp and one Catfish of 4kg. I fished at 80m and got them on floaties with a bullet backing and Almond on the bomb. Its worth fishing this dam as no one is allowed to have holding nets or take any fish out. The fish looked really healthy and water clean. Apparently going there during weekends are chaos and people start queuing from 4:30 at the gate! Weekdays still the best to fish!
