Blaauwpan Dam Kempton

Good Day all,

Was wondering if someone could assist me with what is the best baits/dips to use at Blaaupan Dam and also if you could tell me what times the gate opens on a Saturday. Apparantly there is queues in the morning getting a proper spot.

Would like to go there around the 20/12/14 with the family for the day to enjoy some fishing and company with a Braai.

Bad news,most probably lost my trophy fish this weekend at Blaauwpan and feel so terrible about the damn line that snapped. SEcond problem my BRAND NEW bat boat was completely useless it couldn't even achieve 12 meter in the water then it died.

that is bad luck bro. Dont stress though just keep on trying. How did your line snap?

Agree, Think My line might have been damaged as the Drag was set-up and helped quite allot for the first 10 - 15 minutes into the fight.

Hi

I drove past the dam this weekend and it actually looks like a nice spot to go fishing, we went fishing there once a few years ago and caught a couple of small carps.

However I have been hearing stories about an increase amount of crime going on there, can anyone maybe give an update regarding this? Is it safe to still go fishing there with the family?

Well, So far I have been there about 3 times in the last year. I would recommend to go over a weekend as it should be the safest then, because it is quite busy and allot of people is already standing their in a queue from around 6am and some way before.

Pack up later the afternoon when it gets quiet. Believe then all should be OK.

We haven't had a incident yet or heard of one on the days we have visited Blaauwpan.
