Last year a guy caught a 47KG kob, on the beach between Winterstrand and Cove Rock, but he didn't use a genuine Rapala, was a different brand! It was also not a very big Rappie!

i have taken a couple of Kob from the surf of over 10kgs , slow roll bump bump VAS .

The guy I work with (Lester, pb kob of 38kg) was fishing in front of Wessel's house one day, throwing a chokka bait for a kob.... Wessel braaing with some friends and they decided they want fish. He came down and stood next to Lester. Two casts and ten minutes later had 2 nice kob and went back to braai them... Lester packed up and left after catching buggerall! haha
