Afromosia or iroko. they are so similar, in colour and grain did job with both at same time, offcuts got mixed, was hell to tell the difference.

Would say that is afromosia, iroko has normally a deeper color band in grain. then every piece of wood is different makes it hard sometimes.

there were only about 4pcs or so in the oak, has longer flame in grain.

Going to dip a piece in blue stain for you tomorrow and send u a pic.

did not tell you careful with the iroko dust, can irritate eyes and nose, to point of nose bleeding on sensitive people. wear a dust mask and glasses. also been known to give headaches. no long term effect.

I never worked with Jarrah myself but its exeremely hard, is it not? Used for railway sleepers

Ph - Yes pretty hard. About 31 timber species in all were used for sleepers. iroko,jarrah and zim teak were some of them
