Jeez, I spent my early childhood in Hibberdene, thanks for the memories! Spent many hours after school fishing the estuary under the bridges and off the he rocks the Sheppie side of the mouth. Haven't been back there for about 8 years, need to make a plan. Have you seen the video online of the bloke launching his boat from the estuary over the sandbank of the closed mouth and into the sea?

Great place and we are very happy with our new holiday bungalow. Nice thing is we have our own slipway in the lagoon we we launch and then cruise down warming the motors on the way to the sand bank. What a pleasure! Not many places where you can do that. Great rock and surf and off shore fishing as well.

Have not seen the video of that launch! You have a link of it? There is a big sign up now "NO WAKE ZONE, NO JUMPING SANDBANK". Very dangerous thing to do anyway.

Nice report, and elf is best eaten fresh on the braai, not in a curry ;)

Yip agreed shad is best fresh from the sea, on the braai or fried. Curried fish is nice but not fresh shad curried.

From what I see the place you bought was in a resort called Rondalia(sp?) when I was there in the 70's. We used to live on top of the hill behind and often used to take a short cut through on the was to the beach. On the way home we would stop at the shop for sweets, swim in the pool, jump on the trampolines and ply putt putt.

Correct, it use to be the old Rondalia holiday resort situated on some 27 Ha of Land with a total of 170 odd Units on varying in size from small(rondawel) to some impressive big units. After the holiday resort went bang it was bought up and then units where sold to private buyers. We where lucky enough to buy a lovely medium size unit with lovely entertainment area. All our direct neighbours are permanently staying there and they are great people.

For a true lock up and go place you cannot beat this and you have your own boat ramp on property to launch from into lagoon and then to the beach, priceless!

Nice video, nowadays the Ski boat club has a tractor on the beach to pull you over the sandbank and then push pole you into the sea.
