beating the winter blues

we always go fishing at the vaal dam tago boschkop college dam and aquvia being our usual spots in the summer i might add
so getting tired the of same old spots and the same sized fish(catching anything bigger than 4 kilos being an achievement)
we decided that with the help of sealine we need to try some place new,we chose parys

arriving the friday moring we set up camp

after everthing been set up lines in the fishing was slow with no fish the rest of the the day until early evening

had a reel run at about 7pm producing this 7 kilo carp

no futher fish were caught and the rest of the night was spent keeping warm

saturday

we decided on saturday to have a potjiekos competion the laatjies vs the toppies

while the whole food prep was going on i managed another

about 4 kilos if i remember correct

not to be out done wayne got his pb

a fish of over 5.5 kilos

so far this trip had been the best one in awhile

after lunch a rod which daniel (one of the laatjies) had patiently left for almost 4 hours had a run which can only be described as an angry hussian bolt out the blocks.
then after a frantic struggle we managed to land the best fish of the weekend tipping the scales at 9 kilo's

well done to daniel for a fish of note
not being specimen fishermen i think we had a good result and a few pb to boot

I see the pics now, my eyes are open. Nice fish, what sort of tackle do you use, i.e. line thickness, hook size etc.

@waldok got mine on schalk v breda okuma 12 ft with centre pins 10 pound breaking strain hooks dunno the size but small

we lost alot of tackle a tip use a one hook trace when fishing there

are there any other spots in the parys area that anyone knows about ?

dimilachite is a fantastic spot but there are not many spots there we were only 2 groups camping there the weekend and cannot think that there would have been space for others
