an Introduction To Specimen[/b] angling weekend at Donaldson Dam from 21-23 March 2008. This is definitely something the beginner Specimen / Carp Angler will want to attend.

DONALDSON DAM[/b]

Donaldson dam is on the outskirts of Randfontein, about a 90 min drive from Pretoria. Well renowned for its record sized Common Carp and frequented by international anglers, this is the ideal venue for the beginner to get a decent sized carp on his personal best list.

THE INTRODUCTION[/b]

This is a weekend getaway for the angler but space is available for those who wish to only partake in the introductory course. The program is scheduled to start at 8 AM Saturday the 22[suP]nd[/suP] and will span over the course of the day.

Rusks and coffee is on the menu for Saturday morning and lunch in the form of boerewors rolls and coke for the afternoon, all provided by the organizers.

People will be joining us at Donaldson from the Friday till the Sunday. The seminaar will only be for the Saturday so you don't need to be there for the entire weekend:

Introduction : 22 March
 

Program ( Not set yet - but just a sugestion)

8:00 - 8:30 AM Arrive and welcomming

8:30 - 9:00 AM Basic must have Equipment

9:00 - 10: 00 AM Prebaiting. By means of Spod, Bait kettie, cattapult and Canoe or Bait boat (Jacques & Douglas)

10:00 - 11:00 Am  Rig making - How to and why to etc ( Jacques & Douglas)

11:00 - 12:00 AM Bait choise and presentation ( Jacques & Douglas)

12:00 - 13:00 Lunch Hot Dogs and Coke by the orginisers ( Every Body)

13:00 - 14:00 Carp care and Fotos ( Jacques & Douglas)


Costs:

R90.00 for the Saturday (to be confirmed)

R250 for the weekend (includes camping etc)

new to the forum, really enjoyed your article on introduction to speciman carp fishing, must get the bakkie soon. Do I have to reserve a place at Donaldson Dam for the 22nd of March, do I pay at the venue or can I pay upfront, just have to check with the missus as it is easter weekend, but am really keen !::tight:

Anglershaven, I had I chance to read your post last evening but not to reply, I can't believe my luck, the Missus has agreed to attend with me ! Her first and to date only fishing trip to Koppies Dam a year ago which was an absolute disaster, very little room on the bank, inconsiderate neighbours, filthy abolution facilities, NO BITES and to cap off the experience, I strained muscles in my lower back when I slipped in the mud whilst casting, spent the followingday in Medforum Hospital in Pretoria. :dunno1

Still hoping to get her hooked on fishing though.:wfish

Hi Piscator. Glad to hear that. We will be going earlier to make sure the ablutions are clean etc. She will have company as my wife will also be joining.

Just remember to register via the online registration form before the 13th of March to ensure your seat.
