Barbel Mania

I've never been a fan of Barbel being a Bass angler & Specimen Carp angler by my own admission. However I've never said NO to a fight with a cat. Had a few albeit "smallish" - until last week at a private dam where we saw them very active - landed a small one & early the next morning a 33lb cat picked up -- guess what: my Scopex boilie...what a fight, from one end of the lake to the other...finally after some photo's we cut it open before giving it to the farmers workers:

we found: boilies, some digesting already & particles we had fed..I tell U this cat was "stuffed with our bait -- one thing stood out tho': It had boilies in its gut from all three guys - so it "travelled "all over where we had freebies & hook baits & we were not fishing very close to each other.....makes me think.

at least we got permission to "eradicate" the cats for his workers & have just carp & bass.

I do love a scrap with a big cat --- I want more biggies up to 50lb !!!

Damn, the carp and bass are the ones that should be eradicated seeing that they are the foreign inhabitants................

ita actually unlawful to realease bass and carp as they are an alien species, i just let em all go and dont kill anything, i see no use in it,, i like your passion bass pro but unfortunatly ill stick with deons remark,, try not to use capitals cause then the bois think you shouting,, funny taal this typing thing lol

No mate -- no shouting necessary here -- Its just the way I write at times: "point taken anyway" --

I don't disagree with U entirely -- A case in point: SABASS reported on the powers that be wanting to eradicate carp & bass i.e Harties & other lakes - I fully disagree with this, I am all for catch & release -- however the owner prefers the cats to be given to his staff for food which I'm ok with. That said I've just been in touch with him & the other guys that we leave all cats 30lb + in the water for sport purposes & the control of species etc ...

I think we can learn something from fish hey: all species can live together, yet they do eat each other hehehehehe !!!

Its all good !!

Just before I leave for the long weekend;

Don't know how other guys view their fishing but I'd think it's similar to each other (for those that CATCH & RELEASE)

I have such passion for all fishing disciplines - Deep Sea to Fresh water & the only type I'm yet to try is deep sea. However I've been at this sport since 8yrs old & I love it. The prowess of fish on your line, the fight & the mental game -- the fact that I can share it with gr8 friends who share my sentiments / family & discussing all things fishy with other guys i.e forums etc...seeing others catch their P/B & releasing their quarry is tops.

I trust we'll have a mentality in our country such as the UK & Europe where we take care of what we have & appreciate it for the next generations. However I don't just let info out on those I can see that will kill everything.

enjoy guys !!! catch a biggie

Bass just remember part of it is that we would love our children to catch yellowfish for example. What with pollution and such the current influx of bass in the vaal is definately a death sentence for yellowfish. They never evolved to have to flee from fast moving predatory fish, and are easy pickings for bass. Bass in a river system is a killer for sure.

Also good to see your other post that you would release the ones over 30lbs. If you don't well your scraps with the big cats will be over swiftly.
