Above all else, this is a social - the comp comes second, so lets have some fun.


  1. We represent SEALINE and we represent Angling in general. Lets behave appropriately and CLEAN UP after we're finished... especially taking care not to litter the beaches. [/*]
  2. Let's remember what a privilege it is to be able to fish this coastline!
Arrival at Mapelane

  1. Some guys are arriving on Wednesday, most on Thursday and some on Friday. [/*]
  2. I will be sending out a list of phone numbers so that we can stay in touch. [/*]
  3. Directions.... follow the signs from either side of Kwambonambi... which is North of Richards Bay and south of Mtubabtuba. Anyone got comprehensive detailed directions... please post them. [/*]
  4. If you have not paid Emperor for your accomodation, then you need to report to Reception and pay for your Campsite.
General

  1. Please remember your Fishing license - Parksboard at Mapelane are jacked up - chances are you will have to produce your license sometime during the weekend. [/*]
  2. Licenses are for sale at Mapelane Reception. [/*]
  3. Very basic bait, Boxes of Sards and Prawns are sometimes available at Reception - but DON'T BANK on it! Rather bring your own. [/*]
  4. Basic necessities are sold at the Reception store... Cooldrinks, a few beers, Chips, Biscuits, Bully beef, Ice, Curios.... [/*]
  5. IMPORTANT: Bring your own drinking water!
    Reservoirs of Rainwater are available at Mapelane, but the tap water is not drinkable. [/*]
  6. Bring a Chair with for the Campsite... you will need it for the Party. [/*]
  7. The Umfolozi River borders Mapelane and is infested with Crocdiles - please exercise great care around the Umfolozi... no swimming in the River!
Fishing Competition

  1. We have tried to accomodate everyone. [/*]
  2. For all those who wish to take part in the Competition, there is a R100 Entrance Fee, payable to Reefman before the Comp starts... at Mapelane.  [/*]
  3. Fishing at Mapelane (for those who don't want a nice long walk) is directly in front, in the Bay. This spot is only worth fishing at HIGH TIDE (unless you like fishing in 6 inches of water on a Sandbank >> ;-)
    ---->>> Maximum of 2 rods per angler in the water at any time. [/*]

    To allow everyone the opportunity of fishing at least 1 High tide, the comp times will be:
    START - LINES IN: FRIDAY NIGHT 23h00 -
    LINES UP: SATURDAY AFTERNOON 15h00     [/*]
  5. The Competition is CATCH AND RELEASE. [/*]
  6. All catches should have a Length measurement, if possible, a Photograph and at least 1 witness. [/*]
  7. There is NO NEED to weigh your fish.
    Edibles should be measured FL - Fork Length
    Non edibles - PCL - Precaudal length
    Skates and Rays -     Dw - Disc width

  8. Every angler needs to obtain a Scorecard before the Comp, which needs to be filled in, signed and returned to VOLCOM after the Comp. [/*]
  9. Every effort should be made in order to ensure survival of your release; individual circumstances will be taken into account in this regard, and: [/*]
  10. A Comp Referee will be appointed to handle queries - Mr Eugene Stephen - VOLCOM -... please remember this is a Fun Day... and his decision WILL be final. [/*]
  11. Any Bait may be used, however take note:

  • Cast Nets require a separate license and may NOT be used in the Umfolozi River, only in the sea. [/*]
  • Should you want to use Mussels - then another separate license is required for that. [/*]
  • Crayfish also needs a separate license. [/*]
  • Molluscs/Octopus etc needs a separate license. [/*]
  • IT IS CLOSED SEASON ON SHAD. You may not be in possession of Shad; not for sliding purposes NOR for bait. [/*]
  • 2008 Recreational Fishing Regulations govern... any breach will result in disqualification.
There will be Prizes for:

  1. Champion angler 1st-5th - Angler with the most points.[/*]
    • 5 pts per kg - edible fish.  [/*]
    • 1 pt per kg - inedible fish.
    [/*]
  2. Biggest Edible, 2nd, 3rd [/*]
  3. Biggest inedible, 2nd, 3rd  [/*]
  4. Most species, 2nd, 3rd  [/*]
  5. No Angler may win more than 1 prize in the Fishing Comp.
Casting Competition

  1. At lines up for the Fishing Comp... Saturday 3pm... there will be a Casting competition in the Bay - free entry. [/*]
  2. 2 throws each... Choose the best 1. [/*]
  3. Minimum line class of 0.45mm [/*]
  4. Refereed by Kumz and Homie
Braai and Prizegiving

  1. 18h30 in the Campsite area... Pieterh/Skrops is the Boss man. [/*]
  2. Fancy Dress - there will be Prizes (1st, 2nd. 3rd) for the best dressed fisherpeople! [/*]
  3. There will be a Lamb spit braai ... R20 per head.
    bring your own Chair, Utensils, Salads and Drinks. [/*]
  4. Prizegiving will be approx 20h00... [/*]
  5. There will be a Prize Raffle for all members who have made over 50 posts... [/*]
  6. There will be a Prize for the longest standing member of Sealine who pitches to the Prizegiving...[/*]
