Aston Lake has burst its dam due to the heavy rains over the past two weeks.

Water could be seen flowing from Aston Lake, under Ermelo Road and on towards the N17 highway after the lake's wall broke.

The heavy rains had been pouring into the lake. The water level had risen and finally the banks could not take the pressure anymore and the dam burst.

The water has flowed into the field next to the dam wall and have formed a new lake.

The heavy rains have also filled the Blesbokspruit, which has flooded Ermelo Road at the bridge that crosses the spruit near Largo.

was ther this weekend, no problem with the wall, apperently it just overflowed....

so not to worry about water in the dam....but fish, that's another story, i think most of them swam over the wall when it flooded, because we couldn't get decent fish.

i would like to have a night session there, i think one can get some bigones there.

Hi Thank you for the reply. I was there as well and was pleased to see that the dam wall is still standing. I caught two smallish cats, and not even a bite on the carp rods.

All the fish definitly didnt go over the wall that time or they bred in a big way since that time till now...me and my wife was there 2 weeks ago and landed 46 carp and 6 lost...going there this weekend again for another sleepover.80% of the carp were caught at night....

@lekkerbek. we are going there next weekend. just want to make 100% sure that the dam is open and we can do some fishing.
