Myself and MrsGrobbies got ourselves invited to a social comp the weekend of 30[sup]th[/sup] April. It was hosted by “Asterix Angling Club†at “InLoop†just past Tago at the Vaaldam.
We arrived there Friday afternoon just before five and the comp was to start at fife. Half an hour later we put our first lines in the water and waited. Half an hour later MrsGrobbies had a run and bagged a carp of approximately 1.5 kg , and thats how she continued till Sunday morning just before 11h00.
We saw about 5 tents and thought that that was is for the attendance, cause when we arrived, Johan(Member or Asterix that invited us) told us that that was the turnout for the club. Only the next morning when all these different people was introduced to us as they walked by we realized that we were at the second camp and that there was a lot of other tents around the corner. That afternoon we had to go down to the social braai where we met even more people.
It was a lot of fun seeing everyone making jokes with each other and just relaxing... After the social we returned back to our pens and continued fishing.
Myself and MrsGrobbies used the same rigs and the same combinations... She used on the ball at time alternating between FX, Molasses and Carp Cream, on the hooks was a jam and caramel brown bread dough, and a SWD with pain competition floaties. I used almost everything in my box and at times the same combo’s as she did. Only Sunday morning when I used devils fork on the ball did I land three carps of one kilo each and that was it...
The Sunday at about 11h16 we took MrsGrobbies and her massive net to the weigh masters to weigh the bag... It weighed in at 18.25 kilos with a count of 19 carp.
This was the first ever comp that we attended and MrsGrobbies won the ladies section. Congrats love you kick ass and I’m proud of you. I did not even take my bag to the weigh master, just my Amsel’s. They other people had some very impressive bags, the gent that won had 44 fish and the heaviest was 5.72 kilos.
What a nice weekend we had, it was great fun and we would like to thank “Asterix Angling Club†for making us feel so welcome and part of the team. We will definitely come along next time.

thank you Mr Grobbies.....jy het my ook baie gehelp jy het my vis geskep en die koue water ge trotseer om die vis in die net te kry jy het my my bygestaan..met raad en daad! jy is die beste leer meester ooit! ons sal moet iewers `n sosial of `n ope kompitisie raak loop om by te woon binnekort ...sodat ons almal se gatte kan skop ! Grobbies bo!
