Hi guys I purchased a shimano Aerocast 11ft 3 years ago and paired it with a shimano Stradic 5000 with 30lb Gosen braid.Im not getting the desired distance with it throwing couta casting spoons and gt ice creams. All the lures I'm using are perfectly weighted for the rod casting lure specs.I was thinking of upgrading to the Amia. How much difference are the both rods compared to in casting differences and pulling power. You guys help will be highly appreciated.

i have the aerocast. i have had a few casts with a friends amia with the same reel i use on the aerocast. personally, i prefer the aerocast. it might be that the amia will suit your casting style better, but honestly, i dont think it going to make a huge difference. before you spend the money and go get a new rod, rather see if you can get a amia to cast with. most of the spinning spots in the north will have a guy with a amia around. approach in a friendly manner, and most guys will let you have a whip with it. other than that, rather look at how your braid was loaded, or maybe try a slightly heavier lure. it might be that you not loading the rod properly.

Having owned both the amia microwave guide 11ft and aerocast 11ft. I cant say there was a difference with regards to my casting distance. I sold the amia, kept the aerocast. The aerocast is easier to transport.

On the upper side of the spectrum:
I have an Aerocast 11ft and recently bought the Sierra. The Sierra only casts about 15% further on a perfectly timed cast. Casting conistency is improved a great deal however.

If distance is a real issue, try going lighter on your braid, I have the same Shimano outfit, I bought a spare spool for my stradic, the one spool has 30pd suffix braid and the other spool is loaded with 20 pd nanofil, the nanofil goes a mile,

Indeed, go for a thinner braid. The lowest diameter the Stradic 5000 can easily handle (without running into windknot issues) is PE1.5, like the 25 lbs Gosen Jigging braid.
